Memorial Day 2022 – 1890’s Signal Cannon

The plaque reads “This 1890’s signal cannon symbolizes Palatine’s part in America’s great struggle for freedom.  It pays homage to those who sacrificed so much for their country.  For many years the cannon was cared for by the Sutherland Woman’s Relief Corps 89 and in modern times by the Dennis Becker Family.  Restored by Colfax Welding and powder coated by Britt Industries with grants from American Legion Palatine Post 690 and Sons of the American Legion.”  The refurbished, cannon was placed last spring with the plaque arriving this spring to signify it’s existence.  A formal dedication will be made by the Historical Society on Memorial Day, 2022.
