May 2011 has been one for the record books according to ChicagoWeatherCenter.com and Meteorologist Richard Koeneman reports that we received approximately 7.19″ of rain for the month. Click here for the monthly total precipitation. Over the Memorial Day weekend, mainly on Sunday at noon from approximately 10:00 am to 1:30 a.m., we received 1.7 inches of rain. (2011-05-30-Rainfall Data) Based on Bulletin 70 summer rainfall tables, page 79, the storm event is approximately a 2 year recurrence interval, which means that this storm has a 50% probability of occurring within any given year.
