2013-03-05 Winter Storm Update III

A WINTER STORM WARNING has been issued for our area with chances for significant snow accumulation increasing across Northern Illinois.

Taken from the National Weather Service Weather Forecast Office for Chicago, IL

The most significant March snowstorm in several years will affect the area today. Snow will likely be heavy at times this afternoon and into the evening, and this will have significant travel impacts, especially on the early evening commute. Winds will increase in the late afternoon and evening, leading to blowing and drifting snow and further reduced visibility, especially in open areas. Avoid travel if possible on Tuesday and if travel is absolutely necessary, prepare for extremely hazardous conditions and much longer drive times. Keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
